ConcreCem
Canada - Shell O & G
Shell Canada's personnel was challenged with a location on Chinook Ridge southwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta (Canada) where road bans were in effect and aggregate was in short supply, where rainfall caused the local clays to lose load bearing capacity and or where matting costs were prohibitive. The contractor stood up to the challenge and implemented PowerCem™® Technologies, RoadCem - working the project from June 29th to July 3rd, 2007.
Within 7 days of completing our process, Shell Canada moved in a triple drilling rig upon our solid base with no soil stabilization issues.
PowerCem Canada introduced PowerCem™® Technologies and our stabilization process to Western Canada's Oil and Gas Industry. RoadCem in simple terms is a material used in custom design mixes combined with flyash, cement and in-situ soils of virtually any type.
This eliminates the need to truck in or out any material significantly, thereby reducing the cost of road construction and environmental impacts.
A major concern for Oil & Gas companies is what does our process do to the existing soils and how does it affect future reclamation? This is a serious concern since the responsibility resides with them to return the site to original state and use. The contractor has discussed the PowerCem™® process with the relevant environmental regulatory bodies throughout Western Canada to ensure that no obstacles exist to prevent utilization of this alternative construction method.
The contractor services include site survey, mix design, unconfined compressive strength tests, soil testing and analysis through independent labs providing assurances that upon lifespan completion any future reclamation of the treated soils will pass all environmental criteria.
