As part of the development of a residential neighborhood in Kastanka, close to Prague, a road network was constructed using RoadCem. The existing subgrade layer, consisting of clay, was stabilized using RoadCem and cement. By taking advantage of this application, the weak clay layer is converted to a high-load-bearing, crack-resistant stabilization over which the construction traffic can drive and which can then be finished with a thin layer of asphalt when the road is ready for use as a residential roadway.

By using the product RoadCem, it is possible to transform the in-situ clay into a cement stabilization product in which a high degree of stiffness is coupled to a degree of flexibility that is higher than that of traditional materials. As a result, this RoadCem cement stabilization is suitable for heavy construction traffic. The utilization of RoadCem also means that the stabilization can be loaded after only 24 hours.

The ability to stabilize the clay using RoadCem results in much less delivery and removal of materials which in turn means that construction can occur more quickly and in a more environmentally friendly manner. In addition to saving time, this also leads to a cost-saving of up to 30%.

The satisfaction of the customer with this project has led to more roads being constructed using the PowerCem technology, for example in Brusnice, Lukavec, Ceske Velenice and other locations where new residential neighborhoods are being developed.

In addition, this technology is also being applied to renovations of existing roadways in places such as Kamenice and Mcely.
