Roundabout Beek en Donk
Smart design in combination with smart product : from traffic-jam problem to smooth run through
The N279 between s-Hertogenbosch and Helmond forms an important link in the movement structure of Noord-Brabant . From Beek and Donk the N279 crosses the Gemertseweg (N272). The current roundabout can no longer process the movement in the peak hours adequately ; each morning the traffic gets bogged down.
Arcadis could obtain this project in a competition specific dialogue, due to application of an innovative product for the foundation in combination with a smart design
Smart design - smart product
The capacity of the roundabout is increased, by broadening the inner side of the roundabout with an extra traffic lane and by doubling the set up traffic lane on the come driving up routes. With that the run through time is considerably reduced. Arcadis has used RoadCem for the strengthening of the existing basis. After mix a layer arises with the same hardness as concrete but much more flexible. A large advantage is that the layer can be asphalted directly and that the asphalt layer can be less thick .
