Upgrade of municipal road surfaces

Country
: Czech Republic
Location
: Jesenice
Year
: 2014
Product
: RoadCem

In Jesenice, the surfaces of two roads in a residential area were upgraded. Prior to the project, open-texture surfacing was used for the roads. One disadvantage of open-texture surfacing is that it are susceptible to unevenness, rutting and potholes, which makes the roads uncomfortable and unsightly. Open-texture surfaces therefore require frequent maintenance.

The application of RoadCem stabilisation in neighbouring municipalities has proved that open-texture surfaces such as these can be converted into high-quality road surfaces.

The on-site materials will be reused and mixed with water, RoadCem and cement. After profiling and sealing, a strong and flexible closed-texture surface is created with a structural lifespan of 20 years.

A layer is asphalt is then added to the RoadCem stabilisation to give the surface sufficient grip and ensure the client's aesthetic requirements are fulfilled.

As all of the on-site granular material will be used, no material will have to be disposed of and little external material will have to be obtained in order to lay the foundations, as is usually the case for traditional road construction. This significantly cuts costs and saves time. The construction work on the two roads was completed in two working days, so residents experienced very little disruption.
