Pavement construction for tunnel construction site

Country
: Czech Republic
Location
: Plzen
Year
: 2014
Product
: RoadCem

In western Czech Republic, a new railway infrastructure is going to be built. Near Plzen, a new tunnel construction is going to be built. For the building of the tunnel, a construction site is to be constructed where offices, car parks, storage centre for equipment, and a visitor centre will be built. The total area of this construction site is approximately 12,000 m2. PowerCem Technologies has been requested to build this pavement infrastructure due to the high reliability of the RoadCem stabilisation, short construction time, and economic profit.

The current soil is  clayey sand. The pavement construction on site must have a lifetime of 5 years. The RoadCem stabilisation is built by mixing the in-situ soil with RoadCem, water, and cement. The thickness of the stabilisation is 0.25 m. On top of the RoadCem stabilisation an asphalt surface layer of 0.05 m is laid. Due to the fact that cracks do not occur in a RoadCem construction, the structural lifetime will be achieved.

The construction was finished in 3 days. And 2 days later the asphalt is laid on top of the RoadCem stabilisation.

Because the RoadCem construction performed as expected, high quality, a short construction time, and high economic profit were all achieved compared with a traditional construction. The client is continuing all the pavement structures with RoadCem stabilisations.
