Storage and transshipment terrain

In Moravany, close to Brno in the Czech Republic, a storage and transshipment terrain for general cargo was constructed using the application of PowerCem technology. This technology was chosen because of its economic benefits and because doing so would also result in a substantial time advantage.

 

Utilizing the RoadCem product from PowerCem Technologies, a clay subgrade was stabilized into a high-load-bearing and flexible cement stabilization. RoadCem makes it possible to stabilize all in-situ subgrades, even clay.

This leads to substantially shorter construction times and lower costs in comparison with traditional methods. These factors were decisive in selecting PowerCem technology for this commission.

 

The clay-laden subgrade was milled and, using RoadCem and cement, was transformed into a 25cm-thick, high-load-bearing foundation. A 5cm surface layer of asphalt was applied to the stabilization to prevent the erosion of its surface, since the road surface would be subject to a great deal of torsional forces from the traffic on the terrain.

 

Within a few days, this project was complete and put directly to use, to the great satisfaction of the principal.

In addition to saving time, a cost-saving of 30% was also realized in comparison with price estimates for traditional construction methods.
